Things are happening at the Brentwood Branch

For those who are wondering what is happening during the renovations at the Brentwood branch, check out this blog every so often, for we will try and keep you up to date with major steps in the renovation process.

Brentwood Library Branch renovations get started

On September 25, 2010 the Brentwood Branch closed for renovations.

Three Open Houses were held to say a temporary farewell to library users and 126 people came. Everyone enjoyed the refreshments and the opportunity to chat with friends and staff members. Staff members are now temporarily working at nearby branches.

Initially, the building had to be cleared of books and all other library materials. Many of these materials are in circulation elsewhere: The French Children's Collection and Polish Fiction collection is at Mimico. The Polish non-fiction is at New Toronto, and the MAP passes, Best Bets, New Books and most popular magazines will be circulating out of Richview Library.

A new, large addition is being built to the west. The new building will have about 4,000 square feet of additional space - an increase of almost 30%.
