By Mid-December, the only part of the Brentwood Library left standing was the building parallel with Brentwood Avenue. It will form the core of the new branch. All openings have been boarded up to protect the building from winter weather.
The metal fence will remain even after the demolition , so by-passing customers will be able to observe changes on the building site.
How quickly some things go!
As of this weekend, the Brentwood Branch as we knew it, no longer has its extension to the West.
The low part of the building that used to house the reading and computer room and administrative offices is completely gone. From the looks of it, the two storey extension is next. Work has started on the removal of that section as well. The basement is getting filled in, as it was too expensive to
renovate. The new building will rise in this location, when the demolition is complete. In the meantime, Torcom has installed its construction trailer, allowing shelter and workspace for trades people during the months ahead.
